Maruyama Park and Hokkaido Shrine
The huge and pretty Maruyama Park proudly exhibits canopies of blush-pink sakura during blooming season. Connected to the Hokkaido Shrine, the walkway is bordered by dozens of cherry blossom trees making it the perfect place to click Insta-worthy photos.
This park is one of the best sakura viewing spots in Hakodate. You can view willow cherry blossoms here that are pale pink in colour. For a different sakura viewing experience, make time to visit the observation deck of the Goryōkaku Tower that will treat you with a bird’s eye view of the entire park.
At the foot of Mt. Hakodate, is one of the oldest Western-style parks in the country. Think hundreds of cherry blossom trees, beautiful lanterns hanging from trees, lively stalls, fountains, a playground with a vintage Ferris wheel and cuddly ponies and deer!
